Engineered Hardwood Flooring
Engineered For Greatness
Engineered hardwoods include several layers of real wood that are plied together to create the body of the plank with a real hardwood veneer on the top layer. They do require the same care and maintenance of solid hardwood – since both are organic products. Engineered hardwood is continuing to become a more popular choice for prefinished installations, but are also available to be used for finished-on-site installations. Here is why we love engineered hardwood:
> Their cross–ply construction makes them more dimensionally stable than their solid counterparts.
> Engineered hardwood can be installed below grade, on plywood, above radiant heat and on dry concrete subfloors – talk about versatility!
> There are several installation methods for engineered hardwood: glued, stapled/nailed, or floated.
> Some styles of engineered hardwood flooring can be refinished if the top veneer layer is thick enough.
